Stoweflake Mountain Resort and Spa is located in Stowe, VT offering spacious accommodations, onsite restaurants, spa, and activities for active families and couples. We flew into Boston Logan Airport and took a winter road trip to this area of New England for a short weekend getaway. I was delightfully enchanted by this family owned lodging and the warm and comfortable welcome upon arrival.

Getting There
Stoweflake is centrally located in Stowe, Vermont, within driving distance of Boston, MA, Hartford, CT, NYC, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It was my first visit to Stowe and it didn’t disappoint. There’s always the option to fly into the newly re-opened Morrisville-Stowe Airport, Burlington International Airport, or even take the train to the Waterbury-Stowe station, for those not choosing to drive.

The Rooms
Since it was just my husband and I for this adventure, we were placed in a Luxury King Room which was comfortable and cozy. The fireplace warmed us after our winter drive, and I checked out the bathroom which was spacious with separate tub and shower and plenty of room for an entire family.

Stoweflake offers a variety of lodging options for families, including one bedroom suites and townhouses with one, two, or three bedrooms. The Baraw Family Ski House is also an option with four bedrooms that sleeps 10.
All rooms have basic amenities and some extras, such as spa bathrobes and Keurig coffee makers with local Green Mountain Coffee. All rooms offer complimentary access to the Sports Club, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, and outdoor jacuzzi.
The Food
We were famished after the flight to Boston and drive and couldn’t wait until dinner. Fortunately, the onsite restaurant, Charlie B’s Pub, offers light afternoon nibbles along with a decent wine selection and offering of local brews. The bartender can also mix up your favorite adult libation or even a pot of hot cocoa or tea.

Stoweflake is a member of the Vermont Fresh Network, committed to using locally grown and New England made products. Our cheese board was a variety of local Vermont cheeses and paired perfectly with a glass of red wine while sitting by the window watching the snow fall.
One morning we opted for a room service breakfast, which was a relaxing way to begin our weekend retreat while looking out the view of fresh snowfall. We took this time for deciding what activities we would take part in for the day. A one horse sleigh ride? A visit to Ben and Jerry’s? Snow shoeing? So many options!

Dinners at Charlie B’s Pub were cozy and delicious. We enjoyed evening meals at the restaurant two nights during our visit, along with a few glasses of wine. The menu offered a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and signature entrees. After dinner, we took a stroll around the resort and found ourselves drawn to the evening fire in the courtyard where hot chocolate and S’mores were waiting.
The Spa

The Activities
Stoweflake Mountain Resort and Spa has an in-house concierge who was eager to point out places of interest we might want to check out. In addition to winter outdoor activities on property, there are the nearby ski slopes, sleigh rides, shopping, and so many other options.
We enjoyed our too-short visit at Snowflake Mountain Resort and Spa, and hope to visit again in the future. It isn’t just a winter destination, but a year round experience for family travelers, romantic escapes, and groups of friends looking for a warm and friendly resort to relax and enjoy.
